Isolation and characterization of Four unrecorded Fungal Species Isolated from Korean Freshwater.

Freshwater fungi such as fresh water, sediment and plant litter samples were collected from the rivers and streams. While surveying unrecorded freshwater fungi in Imjingang river and Geumgang river, four fungal strains, NNIBRFG60726, NNIBRFG60730, NNIBRFG60732 and NNIBRFG60733 were isolated from freshwater environment. Dimorphospora foliicola NNIBRFG60726 was isolate from filtered freshwater in Seosan-si. Sequence analysis of NNIBRFG60726 using ITS region showed high similarity with Dimorphospora foliicola MZ773538(100%). NNIBRFG60726 culture characteristics white 2.6cm on PDA at 25℃ for 7 days. The colony morphology was slightly cottony with aerial mycelium white and whitish. Lemonniera terrestris NNIBRFG60730 was isolate from plant litter freshwater in Asan-si. Sequence analysis of NNIBRFG60730 using ITS region showed high similarity with Lemonniera terrestris KC834063(100%). NNIBRFG60730 culture characteristics whitish 0.9cm on PDA at 25℃ for 7 days. The colony morphology was slightly cottony with aerial mycelium white. Phaeosphaeria vagans NNIBRFG60732 was isolate from filtered freshwater in Gyeongju-si Sequence analysis of NNIBRFG60732 using ITS region showed high similarity with Phaeosphaeria vagans KF251193(100%). NNIBRFG60732 fully gray 3.2cm on PDA at 25℃ for 7 days. The colony morphology was slightly cottony with aerial mycelium gray and dark gray.  Neovaginatispora fuckelii NNIBRFG60733 was isolate from plant litter freshwater in Yeoncheon-gun. Sequence analysis of NNIBRFG60733 using ITS region showed high similarity with Neovaginatispora fuckeli OR253128(100%). NNIBRFG60733 fully white 1.0cm on PDA at 25℃ for 7 days. The colony morphology was slightly cottony with aerial mycelium, white the whitish saffron.   The stains were identified using molecular phylogenetic analyses of rDNA and other gene sequences. We identified three species previously unrecorded in Korea.
